Company History
Equip Medical was first started in 1986 as a sole proprietorship by the current Group CEO, Mr. Jimmy Tay. Back then, he had his hands full with sales calls in the morning and paper work at night. Eventually, his hard work and effort paid off; as the company grew in the 1990s, Equip Medical Pte Ltd (“Equip”) was incorporated, and that marked the beginnings of the collective business units now known as Equip Medical Group of Companies.
Being in the industry for more than 25 years, Equip has had extensive dealings with both manufacturers and users of medical devices. Many years of cumulated experience have helped the company achieve the status as a major medical equipment distributor in Singapore and the region.
Equip’s carefully selected and comprehensive product range, include products manufactured in Japan, USA, UK and Europe.
Company Growth
Equip’s clientele has since grown to include medical centers, specialized clinics, nursing homes, major private & government hospitals, schools, dialysis centers and many other institutions.
In addition to marketing medical devices, Equip has also diversified into technical servicing and maintenance of medical equipment. In the early 2000s, as the company saw a surge in demand by hospitals and institutions for outsourced repairs & maintenance, a separate business unit, South-Asia Biomedical Engineering Pte Ltd (“SABE”), was formed to cater to the needs of the customers. With this new engineering unit, Equip is well armed to do after-sales preventive maintenance, repairs & servicing for the products it carries.
Company Expansions
Riding on the growth of developing Asian countries, the group expanded overseas and started its first foreign venture, Lactaequip Medical (M) Sdn Bhd, in Malaysia. Lactaequip now has offices in both Kuala Lumpur and Penang to cater to the markets in peninsula Malaysia, Sabah & Sarawak.
Following the success of Malaysia, the group looked to the next country with growth potential, Thailand. Equip Healthcare Co. Ltd was incorporated in Thailand and now has an office in Bangkok the capital.
Each of the offices in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand has fully trained Sales Consultants that will offer equipment solutions to our valued customer base. We also pride ourselves in our after sales and warranty support and full service back-up on our products to ensure that they are maintained in optimum condition at our customer’s premises.
